Morris Motors is a British company headquartered in Cowley, Oxford, founded by William Morris in 1913.

Until 1919 it was called WRM Motors.

In 1923, it became the largest British car manufacturer, and remained so until joining the BMC in 1952.

In 1938, it took over the Wolseley and Riley brands to form the Nuffield Organization.

In 1952, she entered into an agreement with her former competitor Austin to form the British Motors Corporation.

The most famous post-war projects of Morris Motors were the small car Morris Minor (1948-1971) and the family sedan Morris Oxford (1954-1958), which served as the basis for the legendary Indian car Hindustan Ambassador (1958-2014).

In the future, the boundaries between the Austin and Morris brands were erased, and the main part of their products were universal models like the Mini (ADO15) and Austin / Morris 1100 (ADO16).

After the transformation of BMC into British Leyland (1968), only conservative rear-wheel-drive cars were produced under the Morris brand - Morris Marina (1971-1980) and its successor Ital (1980-1984).

In 1984, Morris fell victim to British Leyland's corporate-wide problems, which ultimately led to the collapse of the entire British car industry.
