Hindustan Contessa is a luxury passenger car created by the Indian company Hindustan Motors.

The body of the Hindustan Contessa is a sedan based on the 1972 British Vauxhall Victor.

The release agreement was signed in 1979, and in 1982 the first Hindustan Contessa rolled off the assembly line.

It is interesting to note that the Vauxhall Victor, in turn, was also not an independent project of the British and was based on the German Opel Rekord D.

The model personified a symbol of luxury and prosperity, not everyone could drive such a car.

Nowadays, the Hindustan Lancer is more famous, produced under an OEM agreement with Mitsubishi.

The Hindustan Contessa modification, produced at the end of the model's production, was equipped with a 1.8-liter in-line four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 75 horsepower at 5000 rpm.

The car used rear-wheel drive and a five-speed manual gearbox.

Disc brakes were installed in front, and drum type in the back.

In addition, the installation of an air conditioner was optional.

In 2002, the model was discontinued.
