Mini Cars History

There're 6 MINI car owner's manuals PDF.

The history of Mini cars consists of two stages: classic and modern.

The first is inextricably linked with the British corporation BMC (since 1968 - British Leyland), which produced the famous small car from 1959 to 1986, and then transferred it to the Rover Group concern.

Designed by Alec Issigonis, the car was the first to combine front-wheel drive, a transverse engine and a two-volume body structure.

The original Mini became the most popular British car: more than 5.3 million copies rolled off the assembly line until 2000, and during this time the model has not changed much.

The second phase began in 2000, when BMW bought the Mini brand.

The German company built a modern version of the Mini Cooper and launched it into production in 2001.

Since then, the Mini has competed in the luxury hatchback segment with cars such as the Volkswagen Beetle and FIAT 500.

In recent years, new versions of Mini have appeared: Clubman station wagons, Countryman and Paceman crossovers, as well as coupes and roadsters.

Based on the Mini Convertible, two sports cars have been developed - a two-seater coupe and a roadster, which stand out for their spectacular style.

They use the same powertrains as the Cooper, Cooper S and John Cooper Works hatchbacks.

In 2013, the production of another crossover begins - the three-door Mini Paceman, combining the off-road qualities of the Countryman model and sporty style.
