Rover is a British automotive brand that has had a rich history of development. Here is a brief history of the development of the Rover car brand:

1904-1945: The Rover company was founded in 1904 and started making cars in 1905.

At the beginning of its history, Rover produced high-end cars, but in the 1920s it began to produce more affordable models.

During the 1940s, Rover became an important supplier of military equipment to Britain during World War II.

The company produced military vehicles, including light armored vehicles that were used as reconnaissance and support vehicles.

1945-1986: After the WWII, Rover resumed civilian car production and produced models such as the P4 and P5.

In the 1960s, Rover acquired Leyland Motors, which led to the creation of the British Leyland Motor Corporation, which became the largest car manufacturer in the UK.

In the 1970s, Rover released models such as the SD1, which was named "Car of the Year" in 1977, and the Range Rover, the first all-wheel drive luxury car.

1986-2005: Rover was sold to the British Aerospace Group in 1986 and then acquired by BMW in 1994.

BMW helped Rover modernize and release new models such as the Rover 75 and MG F.

However, in 2000, BMW sold the majority of Rover's assets to the Phoenix Consortium, which continued to manufacture cars under the Rover brand until 2005, when production was halted.

Today: The Rover brand is currently owned by China's SAIC Motor, which manufactures MG Rover-branded vehicles in China and other Asian countries.

However, these cars have nothing to do with the history and heritage of the historic Rover brand.
