History of McLaren Cars

McLaren is one of the most successful racing teams in motorsport history.

 

It has 8 wins in the Constructors' Championship and 12 in the Formula 1 Drivers' Championship, 5 winning seasons in the Can-Am series, 3 wins in the Indianapolis 500 and 1 win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1995).

 

Founded in 1963 by New Zealand rider Bruce McLaren, who moved to the UK.

 

Initially, the New Zealand flightless kiwi bird was depicted on the McLaren emblem, but later it changed into a stylized boomerang or parachute.

 

In 1989, McLaren Cars, was established as part of the McLaren Technology Group and is headquartered in Woking, Surrey.

 

In 1993-1998 her factory produced the McLaren F1 hypercar, in 2004-2009. - Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.

 

In 2010, the company was renamed McLaren Automotive and declared itself as a sports car manufacturer of the level of Ferrari or Lamborghini.

The McLaren 650S is being replaced by the McLaren 720S, designed by designer Robert Melville.

 

The new Super Series vehicle features a 720hp V8 biturbo engine, 7-speed semi-automatic transmission, MonoCage II carbon monocoque, Proactive Chassis Control II automatic suspension adjustment, Variable Drift Mode and a pop-up Folding Driver Display.

 

Shark nose, narrow LED headlights and a fully glazed teardrop cockpit define the design of all subsequent supercars from Woking.
